On Pearl Harbor Day Remembrance Day, LFV and FHNN are pleased to offer you a Smithsonian American Art presentation featuring World War I and II Art. Beginning with World War I and stretching through World War II, artists’ depictions of America during troubled times reflect a changing national identity. Come and explore these two conflicts and the time in between.
Norman Rockwell’s and Abbott Thayer’s work will be shown along with the art of many others. Themes include the effect of the two Wars on soldiers and families, the Great Depression and WPA programs, and the World War II home-front experience. The event is a collaboration between LFV and FHNN.
