Neighborhood Walk Spotlight: Tulip Hill (Bethesda)
Fun fact: Little Falls Village Member Harriet Edleson authored an article about Tulip Hill for the Washington Post in June of 2016! We’re not exactly sure what it says (it’s behind a pay wall we refuse to breach!), but we assume that it included the words “rolling hills”, “mid-century homes”, “mature trees”, and “friendly neighbors.” Another fun fact: the eponymous botanical feature for which Tulip Hill took its name is not your Dutch Tulip, but the Tulip Poplar. Hmm, you say.
Shall we finish/start the week gathering and pondering on our member host’s generously provided driveway whether these neighborhood descriptors have held up over the decade? At 6:45pm, shall we begin our passeggiata in search of this Tulip Poplars - these towering native trees rumored to be entering their brief blooming season, producing distinctive yellow-green flowers high in the canopy?
As always, the walk is less about covering distance and more about enjoying one of our 20 neighborhoods together.
